Frequently Asked Questions
We do not sell or provide materials at this time. However, for every system that we showcase (actuators, sensors, control, and case studies), we provide all the resources needed for fabrication, including multimedia tutorials and a detailed bill of materials. The fabrication information can be found on the navigation tab, at the left hand side of the component's main page. For example, the fabrication information for fiber-reinforced actuators can be found here.
The soft robotics components are categorized into broad classes, shown on the menu bar of the homepage; actuators, sensors, control, and case studies. The documentation for each class contains subsections covering the design, fabrication, modelling, and characterization of the components. These subsections are located in the navigation widget, on the left-hand side of the component's main page.
If the suppliers delivers to your location, yes.
Otherwise, you can purchase your components from alternative suppliers. As long as the component's specifications are the kept the same, you should be able to achieve the same result regardless of the supplier you choose.
Soft actuators behave similarly for air and water, as long as the right pressure is provided.
However, for the control board, switching from air to a different working fluid might required alternative components and specifications. The pump we list is meant to use air, so you would require a different pump to achieve the required pressure. The pressure sensors/manifolds we use are also meant to be used with air so you will have to find alternatives.
Absolutely. You can change the dimensions to suit your own design by modifying relevant steps in the tutorial, or by editing the provided solid model files.
For each component, the CAD (Solidworks) files are located in the "Download" section of the navigation tab (left hand side of the page). For example, you can download the molds files to fabricate EGaIn sensors here.
First, retrace your steps and make sure you followed the exact steps in the fabrication tutorials.
If the discrepancy persist, post on the Soft Robotics Toolkit forum. Another toolkit user might have encountered the same error, and could help you troubleshoot.
